In the previous sections we have described displacement, velocity and acceleration as vector quantities.
Any physical quantity that has both magnitude and direction is called a vector quantity.
Force is another example of a vector quantity it has magnitude (size) and direction.
i.e. A force applied to an object acts in a particular direction
A scalar quantity has magnitude only.
As well as distance and speed another example of a scalar quantity is mass.
Vectors are represented by using arrows. The length of the arrow represents the magnitude of the vector and the direction is shown by the way the arrow is pointing.
