The number on the top line of a fraction is called the numerator. The number on the bottom line is called the denominator.
If we want to add or subtract two or more fractions that have the same denominator, the procedure is very simple. We add or subtract the numerators to find the numerator (top number) of the answer. The denominator (the bottom number) remains the same.
